La police de Londres a annoncé, dimanche, avoir abattu un homme qui avait poignardé plusieurs personnes au sud de la ville, précisant traiter cette affaire comme « un acte terroriste ».
« Un homme a été abattu par des agents armés à Streatham (sud de Londres). A ce stade, un certain nombre de personnes auraient été poignardées », a déclaré un porte parole de la police métropolitaine.
Les circonstances de cette attaque « sont en cours d’examen », a-t-il poursuivi, notant que « l’incident a été déclaré comme un acte terroriste ».
Les services d’ambulance de Londres ont indiqué, sur leur compte Twitter, avoir déployé des moyens pour « s’occuper » des blessés.
Sur les réseaux sociaux, des vidéos montent des policiers armés entourant un homme étendu au sol sur Streatham High Road. Les forces de l’ordre reculent ensuite brusquement, et demandent aux témoins de la scène de reculer, alors que d’autres véhicules d’urgence arrivent sur les lieux.

The knife was really big.“I saw three people who were injured – one of them might have been the attacker.“I’m a nurse so I would have been willing to step in.”A video shows one woman being walked into an ambulance, with a blanket around her.One man said: “I heard he was stabbing ladies, one on a bicycle, not the same one seen being taken into the ambulance. Une attaque similaire a eu lieu à Londres le 29 novembre dernier. La police avait été alertée pour une attaque à l’arme blanche à London Bridge. L’auteur de cette attaque, un Britannique de 28 ans, avait été abattu sur place par les forces de l’ordre après avoir poignardé à mort deux jeunes étudiants et blessé trois autres.
